Matt Hodan is an investor, entrepreneur and technologist.
Matt works with Lexington Partners, the largest independent manager of private equity and co-investment funds. At Lexington Partners, Matt focuses on evaluating new investments in venture capital, growth equity and leveraged buyout funds.
Prior to Lexington Partners, Matt co-founded Data Marketplace, an online marketplace for tabular data, and participated in the Y-Combinator business incubator program. Data Marketplace was acquired by InfoChimps in 2010.
Prior to Data Marketplace, Matt worked for two years as an investor at Genstar Capital, a private equity investment firm. While at Genstar Capital, Matt oversaw all aspects of the investment process: sourcing, due diligence, deal execution and company oversight.
Prior to Genstar Capital, Matt worked for two years in investment banking at J.P. Morgan. While at J.P. Morgan, Matt provided strategic M&A advisory services to leading companies. Matt was also a member of J.P. Morgan’s corporate defense team.
In addition to investing, Matt enjoys solving problems with software. Matt has been programming since childhood and has experience with many popular programming languages. Matt enjoys hacking Ruby on Rails and node.js apps in his spare time.
Matt studied Finance at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business where he received a Bachelor of Science in 2005. When he’s not working, Matt enjoys playing tennis, snow skiing, sailing and photography.
